With global sustainable development and circular economy trends sweeping the world, low-carbon, eco-friendly wooden architecture has once again taken center stage internationally. The Department of Architecture at Nanhua University is actively engaging at the international forefront. With support from the Ministry of Education's "Build Your Dreams Abroad" project, the Department launched a 45-day overseas internship program titled "Wooden Architecture Renovation and Circular Regeneration" during the summer of 2026. Led by the project's director, Professor Cheng-Che Chen, who is also the Dean of the College of Arts and Design, students traveled to Kyoto, Japan, for an intensive internship at "Rakuankyo Co.", a company long devoted to revitalizing old houses. Currently, four Nanhua students are still learning on-site in Kyoto, and have earned high praise from the Japanese hosts with their professional abilities and cross-disciplinary adaptability.
