
Founded in 1996 through the "Million-Member Fundraising Campaign" initiative by Venerable Master Hsing-Yun, the founder of Fo Guang Shan, Nanhua University is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. This milestone coincides with the centennial birthday of Venerable Master Hsing-Yun. In honor of his life’s work in education and in remembrance of his philosophy – Cultivating Talent Through Education – the University has organized a series of events under the theme "Nanhua at Thirty: Like Stars at Night Forever Bright" to celebrate its 30th anniversary. On March 26, a grand anniversary ceremony was held, along with a tree-planting event titled "Nurturing Talent Across Generations – Nanhua and Beyond" and the launch of the 30th Anniversary Commemorative Collections. Most Venerable Hsin-Bau, the Head Abbot of Fo Guang Shan and Chairman of the Nanhua University Board of Trustees, and Venerable Chue-Yu, Resident Director of the Board of Trustees, attended the event to express their gratitude and to instill momentum for Nanhua University's sustainable development.
Presided over by President Chin-Hsung Kao, attendees included long-time supporters of Nanhua University; Fo Guang Shan benefactors; Vice President of the Buddha's Light International Association (BLIA) World Headquarters, Mr. Chao-Ming Liu, and his spouse; Dr. Tsong-Ming Lin, president of Fo Guang Shan University Consortium; and principals and representatives from high schools across Taiwan. Also in attendance were industry consultants, board members of the alumni association, and former Minister of Justice Mao-Lin Shih, who led various community figures in donating Japanese black pines. Deputy Magistrate of Yunlin County Stacie Chen, Director of the Education Department of Chiayi County Mei-Hua Li, Director of the Education Department of Chiayi City Tien-Tsai Kuo, and Mayor of Dalin Township Yu-Chiang Hsu also attended to offer their congratulations. International guests from the United States, Finland, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Saudi Arabia also joined the celebration.
