Nanhua University Youth Volunteers Deepen 11-Year Engagement in Northern Thailand, Promoting Disaster Prevention Education

From June 28 to July 19, Nanhua University's ‘Young Green’ Environmental Volunteer Team traveled to Pai District in Mae Hong Son Province and the Ban Ton Haen Noi community in Chiang Mai Province, Northern Thailand to carry out the "Disaster Prevention and Environmental Action" international volunteer project. Through disaster prevention education, environmental education, climate adaptation, and cross-cultural exchange, the team supported local communities in facing the challenges of extreme weather.

The team has now been engaged in northern Thailand for 11 consecutive years, providing services that span drug rehabilitation centers, elementary schools, and Tai ethnic settlements. Prior to departure, the volunteers completed their professional training, becoming certified disaster prevention officers. Through instructional sessions, disaster supply kit design, community surveys, and household interviews, the volunteers helped residents build disaster prevention awareness.

Nanhua University President Chin-Hsung Kao stated that the University strongly encourages students to step beyond the campus and into the world, transforming knowledge into action and applying their professional expertise to social responsibility. This disaster prevention and environmental initiative in northern Thailand not only represents a vital practical demonstration of youth participation in international service but also cultivates students' abilities to tackle global climate change, pursue sustainable development, and engage in cross-cultural collaboration—showcasing the spirit of the youth putting sustainability into action through hands-on practice.
