The Nanhua University baseball team recently advanced to the quarterfinals of the University Baseball League (UBL) Open Division I for the 2025 academic year. Their first game was held on January 3 at the Chiayi City Municipal Baseball Stadium. On the afternoon of January 2, the eve of the game, the team held a special blessing ceremony, seeking spiritual stability to help the players perform at their peak. The ritual proved successful, as they secured a gritty 6–5 victory over National Taiwan Sport University, building confidence and momentum for the subsequent games.

The pre-game blessing ceremony on the afternoon of January 2 was presided over by Venerable Chue-Yu. Joining University President Chin-Hsung Kao, the Director of Sport Excellence Ying-Chih Ho, baseball Head Coach Chung-Nan Tsai and the coaching staff, the entire baseball team participated in a light-offering ceremony to the Buddha. A special invitation was extended to four monks from India—currently students in the Department of Life-and-Death Studies—to lead the chanting of the Heart Sutra and Venerable Master Hsing-Yun’s "Prayer for Athletes," infusing the team with wisdom and confidence.

Furthermore, alumnus I-Chung Chen who debuted as a professional baseball player in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) in 2025, took advantage of the off-season to return to the University to mentor current players. He also donated ten cases of game balls to give back to the team, demonstrating his deep affection for his alma mater, as well as the spirit of passing on knowledge and experience. After the blessing ceremony, President Chin-Hsung Kao personally presented a certificate of appreciation to express the University's gratitude.

Through religious blessings and alumni support, the Nanhua University baseball team achieved victory in their first game of the quarterfinal rematch, showcasing the team’s cohesion and fighting spirit, and laying a solid foundation for the upcoming competition.
