Nanhua University recently held its fifth "Slow Movement X Design Thinking Workshop," a ten-day event featuring the participation of 10 faculty members and 38 students from Thailand and Taiwan. By integrating design thinking methodologies with Slow Movement principles, participants delved into local communities to propose cross-cultural innovative solutions.
The workshop brought together faculty and students from Taiwan's Nanhua University, Thailand's Rajamangala University of Technology, the University of Phayao, and Chiang Mai Rajabhat University. Using Mayuan Village in Gukeng Township (Yunlin County), Luman Community in Zhuqi Township (Chiayi County), and Jilin, Zhonglin, and Pinglin Villages in Dalin Township as fieldwork sites, participants worked in groups to experience the full design thinking process, engaging in user interviews, data coding and categorization, identifying needs, and brainstorming creative concepts.
For years, this workshop has emphasized the importance of the "learning process," valuing hands-on practice as well as personal growth and cultural understanding. Through this collaboration, Taiwanese and Thai students not only learned from each other academically but also deepened their understanding of each other's cultural backgrounds through daily interactions, fostering cross-cultural friendships and showcasing the power of international cooperation.
