The 2024 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, announced on December 12, 2024, saw intense competition with 1,477 participating universities from 95 countries - a significant increase of 294 institutions from the previous year. Among only 30 universities in Taiwan that made the list, Nanhua University achieved outstanding results in environmental sustainability, ranking 96th globally and 10th nationally, marking the ninth consecutive year in the world's top 100 green universities since 2016. Notably, the University has maintained its number 1 position globally in waste management for nine straight years. To support low-carbon sustainability initiatives, Nanhua University has: Implemented fully paperless meetings; progressively reduced physical book purchases while expanding e-book resources; established e-book sharing agreements with 158 vocational high schools nationwide; guided 85 companies through carbon footprint audits; trained 292 professionals to obtain environmental education certifications.
In addition, at the invitation of Chiayi City Government, Nanhua University has partnered with five higher education institutions to create a Sustainability Platform, helping local businesses to implement environmentally sustainable practices. This initiative fulfills the University's social responsibility by fostering regional prosperity through environmental stewardship.
