Community health service to the remote area by the students

Nanhua University Health Service Team was established.

By Nanhua University, Institute of Natural Medicine students composition "Nature Medicine Health Service first team" at August 3, 2013 Alishan township Lai-Gi village’s two-day community health services and communicated with Aboriginal natural therapies. The “Natural Medicine Health Service team” leader is Dr. Qiu-Yuan Chen Institute of Natural Medicine. This team members have 30 people, including physicians, pharmacists, massage and physical therapist, nurses and mental health counselors and other professional backgrounds alumni and students in school, very strong lineup. Their services include understanding the health hazards of toxic starch, oral cancer screening, steam foot bath, massage, oil scraping, ear acupuncture, cupping, moxibustion, psychological counseling, iris checks, in addition to group gymnastics, making massage ointment and Ba-Duan-Jin Kung Fu, activities are very abundant.

Dr. Qiu-Yuan Chen said that the trip to lead students into remote areas tribal services, not only allows students to apply what they have learned in practice, but also the student has a caring community spirit of service.

In addition, through the service activity but also with indigenous people traditional naturopaths exchange of experience, for example, indigenous people have accumulated considerable experience on the use of medicinal plants, also known Ethnobotany. And these are the modern drug development reference resources.

So this service activities are also edible and medicinal plants for visits to the use of natural resources for natural health, thus contributing to people's health and welfare.

President Dr. Cong-Ming Lin points out that students use their spare time to participate in public activities of social services is quite meaningful, not only to understand the various social aspects, also found that many need to be care for the disadvantaged groups are neglected. He hoped that the student community by serving people in remote areas to obtain spiritual growth, as it is learned in the classroom valuable knowledge and experience.
