Award certificates of honor of three good deeds, encourage students to do three good deeds activity.

     The annual coming-of-age ceremony of Nanhua University is held on December 7th, 2013 and there are about 1100 freshmen attended the ceremony, including 11 students that requires special education needs, together, under the witness and blessing of teachers and parents, entered a new period of life. There are 600 parents attended, which set the highest record of this activity, even a family with 7 people attended to witness the important moment of children growing up. Senior executive officer Liu Jiazhen from department of student affairs and special education, Dalin township mayorHuang Zhen Yu, and many more distinguished guests also attended the ceremony and Fo Guang Shan Yongguang Master represented the founder of Nanhua University, Venerable Master Hsing Yun, to attend the meeting and encourage students with “do good things, say good words, and keep good minds.”
     The activity “coming-of-age ceremony” of Nanhua University, is a course that follows the ancient rites and combines and conform to modern society, design a series of activity, including parents and teachers’ meeting, mental development speeches, and many more, so as to cultivate students’ heart of servicing and concerning, responsibility, sense of justice and promote a freshmen from a tender and delicate teenager into an adult who possess a conscious heart. The moments when children make a grown-up oath and give a hug, every parent, seeing the mature after the mental baptism, is happy and touched. The scene is full of warm and touching aura and the guests are all touched.
     This year, certificates of honor of three good deeds passport are especially awarded in the activity, in order to encourage students to engage in 3 goods activity, and promote 3 goods deeds, which are do good things, say good words, and keep good mind.        There are 10 students awarded, and among them, 2 students, Wu Jun Wide from department of Philosophy and Life Education and Zhan Zhaokai from department of Applied Sociology, enthusiastically participate in 3 good movement in a long term, therefore, the University especially award them an excellent award, approve them and encourage them.
     Yongguang Master, who is Fo Guang ShanDean of Education and director of Nanhua University, especially represent Venerable Master Hsing Yun attending this activity, encourage students, and gift “do good things, say good words, and keep good mind” to students who attended, encourage students to keep good minds, cultivate positive concept and wisdom. 永光法師 said that, 3 goods deeds are not only a slogan, but, by adding “-ing,” a present continuous tense, meanwhile, beatify everyone that unwavering advancement despite Life's twists and turns, leads to the attainment of happiness and wisdom.. In addition, they even put the yellow scarf on shoulders of each student, who is receiver, one by one. The rite, Once again salute, bless every student can grow up under the baptism of coming-of-age ceremony. In the solemn and respectful coming-of-age ceremony, the first rite conducting is Clean salute, which dean of office of academic affairs, Li, Kun-Chung and deans of every colleges separately ladle water for every receiver to drink Clean salute, so as to let receivers experience the grace of parents’ nurturance and teachers’ education, which is precious as water in a desert. The performance of Ya Yue Court Orchestra of rite music and classic row dance in the ceremony show the solemnity of the ancient rite.
     During the “Start salute” in the coming of age ceremony, parents place white scarves, which symbolizes pure, innocent, growth, and leaving childish, on students’ shoulders in person. And the receivers must gratefully swear an grown-up oath to their parents and give them a hug. At the moment, the sentimental interaction that true feeling between parents and students revealed, not only enhanced the relationship, but every parent showed their joyful and touching feeling, the scene full of warm and joy aura.
     After the Start salute, in the Once again salute and tree salute, the university’s president Lin, Tsong-Ming, both of the vice presidents, and senior executive officer Liu Jiazhen from Department of Student Affairs and Special Education, Ministry of Education place the yellow scarf on shoulders of students, and Yongguang Master、town mayor Huang Zhen Yu and other guests give some small presents to the receiver. The yellow scarf symbolizes responsible for what you do and righteous attitude, hope that the receiver can serve the society in the merciful mood and have the spirit of serving the society. Meanwhile, wish that students can achieve something after learning and make rapid advances in their career after growing up. In addition, the university, this year, especially chose the rice of Nanhua, which cooperate with farmers, as gifts. The rice of Nanhua is grown with the nature farming, besides no pollution to the growing environment of rice, they are concerned about sustainable operation of land, and its meaning is responding to the 3 deeds that the university is promoting. The little gifts, in the meanwhile, represent the blessing and anticipation that the elders have with the receivers, besides bless that they grow up, hope that they can grow up with self-conscious, go ahead with new hope, and march towards bright future, which is extra meaningful.
     Kingdom Education Group President is not only honorary director of Fo Guang Shan but also the consultant of promoting internationalizing Nanhua University, this summer, he provide a full subsidy to 10 excellent students to Cambridge University to take a short term advanced study, on the day of the activity, he especially show up and celebrate the students’ grown-up, and meanwhile, indicate that he will keep promoting “small studying abroad, big education” with the University, provide more excellent students to take a short term advanced study to great British universities, cultivate students into a person who learn through east and west, have both wisdom and kindness and use what they learned
     Nanhua University president Lin, Tsong-Ming mentioned that coming-of-age ceremony is a tradition since the University is founded, and this is not only a symbol, but contains the meaning of self-approval and gratitude feedback, let students turn students into “adults” through the activity and enter a new period of life. President Lin said that the coming-of-age ceremony is not only a critical moment in students’ life, but, through this dignified coming-of-age ceremony, can let students realize the grace of parents’ nurturance and teachers’ teaching and let students know and keep a thankful heart and realize the respect to people, they are all really meaningful.
